Hello and welcome to Detroit Vogue!

The idea for this blog came to me at a Drag show.  Wouldn’t anyone want to blog about fashion at a drag show? (God Save the Queens!)  But it wasn’t really the performers that caught my eye, it was attendees.  The people there did Detroit fashion proud.  There were boys in body paint, women in dresses made completely out of extensions, amazing wigs, makeup, fabulous clothing, and accessories.  This is the Detroit that I love, the Detroit that makes everything into a performance. That’s what I want to share with you.

Now I know that Detroit, especially recently, has been featured in national publications and on the web. (Yep, I said “on the web” like someone who’s never used the internets before) But I feel that there’s always something missing in those articles.  So here I am hoping that I can do it right, because the kind of creativity we have in this town deserves it.

This blog is inspired by local Detroiters, what they wear and how they create their style.  Dressing in Detroit is an art form.  People in this city have a style that is personal and expressive in ways that you won’t see in other places.  I’ll never be able be able to do it justice with words, it just needs to be seen.  For those of you who live or work in Detroit, you know what I mean.  For those of you who have never been, or just haven’t been in a very long time I hope that my posts will inspire you to come and visit.
